After many years of robust efforts by the Neighbourhood Watch, the Valencian government has recently installed a number of cameras at various locations around the Altea areas. These cameras are linked to the local police stations for surveillance of traffic and security.
One of these cameras is located at the entrance to the Galera and this camera is linked to the police station. Movement of traffic into and exiting from the Galera is seen in real time and also recorded and the provision of this camera is of obvious benefit to the security of us all.
Furthermore, residents would be ill-advised to risk a sharp left hand turn into the Galera when approaching from the direction of Altea town or exiting left towards Calpe. These movements might be visible on camera and heavy fines are in force for these breaches of traffic laws.
Insofar as the N332 Galera entrance and exit is concerned, what we would ideally like is something along the lines of the picture below. Unfortunately, such a road alteration would be a matter for Madrid under their Red de Carreteras authority and not the responsibility of our Ayuntamiento. Perhaps this is something to work on for the future but, remember, we are in Spain!
